chapter 4: Erika

She says that she is always reday for a fight and we know that she is very jealous because of Ruthie.Moreover she talks about her relationship with her mum and her dad which isn't good.Erika thinks her mum is ashamed because she is white and Erika is black,so Erika don't like white people.Her mum also don't like AJ and all the black men because of Erika's dad.
In this chapter there is an argument between Erika and her mum too,her mum critizices Erika in every single way(...the way she talks and things like that..).

->there are a lot of social problems in this family
->should that be a mum????
->I hate girls who are ready for a fight!!!!!



chapter 5: AJ
He is talking about Erika that she is getting on his nerves again and he is also talking about the party from Bill where a bunch of the MG started scrapping,MG is a gang.
We learn that AJ lives east of the school in a little Brick house on the corner of Niagara and twenty-third.His neighbourhood isn't nice,because everything is old and there are a lot of drugs and fights because of gangs.
His mum died 3 years ago and his dad doesn't pay attention to the kids.Franco is AJ's big brother and he is a dopeman.Anthony is AJ's little brother.
At Bills party Erika provocated AJ and she kissed a boy from GM,so AJ kissed a white girl.Erika hates white girls.
->it's like in the movies where you can see the Bronx!!!
->I felt sorry for him


chapter 6:Ruthie
Ruthie has doubts, she feels different because she can't associate herself with black people and she doesn't know if she wants to.She is also afraid when she hears all of the problems of the black community (drugs,gangs,...).
She asks herself why she couldn't be seen as a human being first and as a black person second.In this case her parents aren't much help because they grew up in black communities and decided to live in white communities when they have a family because they are of the opinion that there are better opportunities for their kids!
Ruthie mentions that she doesn't like going to church because she knows that the people doesn't like her and her family.

->it's not fair that the black people have a lot of problems just because of her coloured skin!!!


chapter 7 :Erika
She believes in God and that's the reason why she goes to Zion African Methodist Episcopal every Sunday,it's a church.Erika is the student director of the church youth choir and that is the only thing she is proud of.
Today she has a gig in church and she is very nervous because AJ wants to come to see it.But she is also pissed off because there are Ruthie and her family too.
We learn that they say that Ruthie is a wannabe (black persons wants to be white).
Erika observes Ruthie and she philosophize about Ruthie and her family.Later she is pissed off and disappointed because AJ hasn't come.


chapter 8: AJ
Erika asks Aj if he loves her,but he doesn't know and because of that he is unconcerned about love and things like that.He asks Ruthie how she know if she loves somebody.
AJ isn't able to do the workshits in chemistry,so Ruthie helps him after school.


chapter 9: Ruthie
As Ruthie arrives in AJ's neighbourhood,she doesn't feel save because there is a bi difference to her neighbourhood.
She is pissed off because she can't help him,he forgot his books in school.
